PriceTrail Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 15, 2026
PriceTrail (the "App") is a personal Amazon UK price-tracking tool. This policy explains what data it collects, why, and how to delete it.
Data Collected
When you sign in
- Email address, display name, and profile picture — provided by Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple so the App can identify you across devices and personalise the home screen. (With Sign in with Apple you may choose to hide your real email address.)
- Account identifier ("sub") — an opaque, account-specific ID issued by Google or Apple, used to link your sessions on the server without storing your password.
When you use the App
- Tracked product list (ASINs) — the Amazon UK products you have added.
- Price history — the prices the server has observed for those products, with timestamps.
- Per-seller offers — the sellers offering each tracked product and their current prices.
- Push notification token — issued by Firebase Cloud Messaging so the server can deliver price-change alerts to your device.
When ads are shown
- Advertising data — the App shows a banner ad served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect your device's IP address, device and advertising identifiers, and coarse information about ad views and taps. See the Advertising section below for how consent controls this.
The App does not collect device location, contacts, photos, microphone input, or browsing history outside the App.
How the Data Is Used
The data above is used only to:
- Authenticate you when you open the App.
- Show your watchlist and its price history.
- Send you a push notification when one of your tracked prices changes.
- Show a banner ad (served by Google AdMob) that helps keep the App free.
Your account details, watchlist, and price history are not sold or shared with advertisers. Advertising data is collected and processed only by Google AdMob as described below.
Advertising
The App displays a small banner ad provided by Google AdMob. How ads behave depends on where you are and what you choose:
- UK, EU, and Switzerland — the first time you open the App you are asked for consent before any ad is shown. If you consent, ads may be personalised using your advertising identifier (this involves Google and its advertising partners processing your data across apps). If you decline personalisation or consent, you may see non-personalised ads or no ads at all. The legal basis for personalised advertising is your consent.
- Changing your mind — you can review or withdraw your consent at any time in the App under Settings → Privacy options.
- Elsewhere — ads are served under Google's standard advertising terms for your region.
For details on how Google processes advertising data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Where the Data Lives
The watchlist, price history, and push tokens are stored on the server operated by the App's developer (a private host running the PriceTrail backend). Google Sign-In tokens are issued by Google; push tokens are issued by Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging service and forwarded to Apple's APNs for iOS delivery.
Third Parties
- Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple — receive the sign-in request. See Google's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob — serves the banner ad and processes the advertising data described above. See Google's advertising privacy documentation.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push Notification service — used solely to deliver notifications to your device.
- Amazon.co.uk — the server fetches public product and offer-listing pages to read the current price. No account, login, or purchase is performed.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is kept on the server while your account is active. To delete it:
- In the App: go to Settings → Delete account. This immediately and permanently removes your account, watchlist, price history, and push token from the server.
- By email: alternatively, send a deletion request to [email protected]. All rows associated with your account are removed within 7 days.
Children's Privacy
PriceTrail is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information to the App, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
